Souptember Day 9

After yesterday’s disaster of a soup aka Split Pea Soup, we can only go up in recipes from here

That was the only one I was worried about because of the major dislike of canned peas

Yesterday’s intro I talked about soup in Super Mario Odyssey, and today I think we’ll talk about another video game: Minecraft (pronounced Minestrone)

The soup in Minecraft is very easy. It only takes three ingredients!

Plus, if you add a flower, you can make “suspicious stew” which makes a unique flavor of soup

As we go through the month, if there’s any media with soup in it and you want me to talk about, let me know!

Pumpkin Soup

Fall is coming upon us, and pumpkins are all the rage now

It only makes sense to make a holiday soup involving pumpkin, and you don’t even need pumpkin spice with this soup too!

(not pictured: garlic)

What you need

  • 1 can of pumpkin
  • Onion
  • Cream
  • Olive Oil
  • Maple syrup
  • Vegetable broth
  • Garlic
  • Cumin
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Thyme
  • Ginger
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Picture of diced onions would be here if I remembered to take a picture.

If you need help on what it needs to look like, look at a previous post

Dice your onion

Put olive oil in a pan to heat up, and add onion and garlic

Sauté for a few minutes until onions soften

Add pumpkin and spices

Mix well together and continue cooking at this state until pumpkin starts to steam

(see photo above)

Add the vegetable broth and continue to stir

Soup WILL BUBBLE so watch out for splashed

I got some pumpkin on my arm when cooking

Stir for about 5 minutes

Take soup off the heat and add cream and maple syrup

Stir well

If it is not “soupy” enough, you can use a blender to mix it together more

Mine was just the right amount of soupy to me, and it smelled pretty good

The addition of cayenne pepper I thought would add a nice spice and flavor to the soup

Garnish with pumpkin seeds, and more thyme, salt, and pepper

And there you go!

My soup was two bowls and I liked it enough to have them both tonight

First time making this, and I’d call it a success

If you make this soup, let me know what you think, and see you tomorrow!
