Aquaman’s Origins

Aquaman is the fish-loving hero we all know and somewhat love. But where did he come from? Well, dear reader, I did some in depth research on Aquaman’s origins and history.
Aquaman’s real name is Arthur, and according to the new movie coming out, he was named after a hurricane that was destroying entire communities. Or the king from Camelot. They mention both so you can really decide which one it is. His father was a lighthouse and mother was a mermaid, so when his parents first met it was very confusing.

Eventually his mom left to go back to Atlantis and left Arthur’s father to raise him, and Aquaman was left confused and alone with only a lighthouse dad to guide him.

Somehow, Aquaman learned he could talk to fish and command them to do what he wants. He has a half-brother that can’t talk to fish, and maybe nobody from Atlantis can? It’s really hard to tell because in the movie they put saddles on sharks and giant seahorse-type creatures to ride them like underwater horses.

In some iterations of Aquaman, he was pretty cool. In the animated Justice League, he had to save his child from an underwater volcano while he and the child were chained to it. He was forced to cut off his hand so he and his kid could escape before the volcano erupted. It was a really epic moment and I recommend everyone to watch the animated Justice League show because it’s really good.

Aquaman doesn’t want to be king of Atlantis (because who would?) He was raised on land so he only wants to use his powers of water on land for some reason instead of being the most powerful creature underwater.
Unfortunately nobody told him life was gonna be this way (clapclapclapclap) and Aquaman ends up being the king and creates peace between land and sea.

If you ever want to feel like Aquaman, I suggest jumping in the pool and watching Finding Nemo or Finding Dory, because you can hear them talk in the film just like Aquaman.
