I spent a year in a Pepsi school

Another year has gone by, and that means a lot of changes have happened since the past year. I personally have had a lot of changes in my life, some good, some bad. Without question, the largest change that I have had in my life this year is the switch from a Coke school to a Pepsi school.

I wrote about this at the beginning of the school year, but I thought it would be important to reflect on how this year ended under a Pepsi reign.

The Pros:

KU had a lot of events that involved them handing out free drinks of Pepsi products. I don’t know if they did this when it was Coke, but I noticed it a lot more this year when I went through the Union.

There was so many other free things at those events. I got a couple of koozies that I never plan on using, a Dr. Pepper hat, and a cheap plastic frisbee. There was a lot of items that weren’t soda.

We got Dr. Pepper in the school finally. I know a few people that were incredibly thrilled about that.

I was able to make a bunch of jokes about Pepsi taking over the school. I consider that a positive thing; I was able to be funny about something for a year.

The Cons:

I had to drink a lot of Diet Pepsi when there wasn’t any Dr. Pepper. I don’t really like the taste of Pepsi, but I’ll drink Diet Pepsi when that’s one of the two choices available.

The Coca-Cola funeral never seemed to end. We were left with constant reminders about the years previous, with empty Coke vending machines haunting some hallways for more than half the year, to previous year T-Shirts that had the Coke logo on them.

We were forced to remember the Dr. Pepper 10 advertising plan. Why promote a drink that slightly more than half the population of the world can’t enjoy?
